Linen Tea Towel– Jennifer Wurrkidj Design
This pure linen tea towel is printed with a two colour screen design, and has the names for bush foods in eight different Maningrida languages.
This playful design depicts a woman going walking in the bush, collecting seasonal bush foods. The woman is carrying a dillybag on her foreheads, which is the traditional carrying style of people of Arnhem Land.
She is also carrying a digging stick, a tool which is still used today to dig up yams and tubers. In the lower centre of the design, there are rocks indicating this county is the stone country, which the artists calls home.
