Children’s Book- ‘Ngayi Nga-ngeydi Patricia/My name is Patricia’

My Name is Patricia is a bilingual children’s book that tells the story of ten-year-old Maningrida girl. Patricia balances traditional Aboriginal life with her ambition to excel at school and become a ranger.

The story is told in English and Kune, Patricia’s first language inherited from her mother and grandmother.  Author Ingrid Stonhill said Kune is an ancient language and at risk of extinction because it is not well recorded or taught at school.

The book retails for $20 plus postage and funds raised will support the Maningrida Arts & Culture’s Language and Culture Office.
